About Me

Who am I?

Hello, I'm Nicole. I'm a qualified Integrative Humanistic Counsellor working in the centre of Oxford and online. Offering empathy and compassion, and a place to see you is at the core of me (both as a counsellor and as a person). I will meet you with curiosity and create a comfortable and welcoming place for you to feel understood. It's my privilege to sit alongside you and I'm always humbled by anything shared with me.

As well as being a counsellor, I have 6+ years experience working for a mental health charity, where I have offered a range of 1-1 and group support to a variety of people with differing needs. â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹

Nicole Corfield Counselling in Oxford BACP Counsellor

Outside of my role as a counsellor / charity worker, I adore reading (especially by water!), I'm an avid film watcher, more occasional gamer, and spend a good chunk of my time with my dog.

How I work?

I am trained in Person-Centred Theory, Gestalt and Transactional Analysis (TA).

I predominantly work in a Person-Centred way, believing that you as the client are the expert on yourself. I will not lead on sessions and will encourage you to bring anything you feel comfortable bringing, and won't pressurise you to share anything you aren't comfortable with. I'm here to sit with you in this, and be curious around you and what goes on for you.

Transactional Analysis looks at relationships, their dynamics and how we relate to others.

Gestalt Theory takes a holistic approach to understanding what’s going on and works with you as a whole, and looks at how things from the past are affecting you in the here and now - both in thoughts and body sensations.

I may also bring in other psycho-education and theories if it feels appropriate to our work together. â€‹
